This web site was created to promote and distribute the unpublished manuscript: The Greatest Films of the Twentieth Century: An Antidote to the Hollywood Counter Culture. Movies produced in the latter part of the 20th century and in the new century have become the central force in polluting American society with violent and vulgar images. Children are being shaped by the twisted cultural landscape manufactured in Hollywood. The rotting of our liveliest are form is rooted in the forty year dominance of film entertainment by the Hollywood counter culture. The high priests of that culture depict a society on film where narcissism reigns, monogamy has been discarded for sex on the run, heroes have become “techno special effects” and violence has been elevated to a spiritual experience. They view American through the lens of the “lowest cultural denominator.”

Unlike this book, no other publication researched by this author (1) simultaneously chronicles the greatest films of the last century by genre; (2) restores great and forgotten films and stars to historical prominence; and (3) challenges the dominant Hollywood counter culture as epitomized by the American Film Institute. The five hundred greatest films of the last century are grouped by genre and wrapped within blistering social commentary supporting film entertainment with a more optimistic view of the American condition. There is a huge market for this book. The core of that market is a general public looking for “antidotes” to the violent images and depravity depicted in contemporary films. A strong secondary and enduring market for this book is the growing number of academic programs at the secondary school and college levels that offer course in film history, film appreciation and film/video multimedia production.
